Chapter Introduction | Web Resources | Assignment Comments | Teaching Materials

This assignment is designed to encourage you to compare different types of evaluation methods. For example, how does doing heuristic evaluation compare with user testing? What are the logistical differences? Which is easier and for whom? Which is least expensive? And so on. What results do you obtain from each method and how do the findings differ? After you've made your comparison, look to see what other researchers have found in their comparisons. You can search www.hcibib.org, the ACM digital library (if your university is a member) or the web for other research papers. You could start by looking for Clair-Marie Karat's (1994) paper which is listed in the references at the end of the book, and check-out Bill Bailey's website www.humanfactors.com.
